وقال روكفيد: إن الجفاف أثر في الحبوب، وخاصة القمح، وبذور اللفت، إلى جانب البطاطس والخضروات وبنجر السكر والذرة وفول الصويا، كما أدى إلى نقص أعلاف الماشية، خصوصًا في جنوب البلاد.
ودعا إلى دعم حكومي للمزارعين، يشمل تخفيف أعباء تكاليف المدخلات والضرائب على وقود الديزل، وتسريع صرف الإعانات الزراعية، مؤكدًا الحاجة إلى تطوير أصناف محاصيل أكثر تحملًا للحرارة والجفاف.
