زلازل متكررة في فانواتو

وتقع الكثير من الزلازل في فانواتو، الأرخبيل المنخفض الارتفاع الواقع على حزام النار الزلزالي، وهو قوس من النشاط التكتوني المكثف يمتد عبر جنوب شرق آسيا وحوض المحيط الهادئ.
وتُصنّف فانواتو من بين أكثر الدول عرضة للكوارث الطبيعية كالزلازل والعواصف والفيضانات وتسونامي، وفقا لتقرير المخاطر العالمية السنوي.
وأشار المعهد إلى أن الزلزال حصل على عمق 188 كلم.
