يواجه النجم الإنجليزي رحيم ستيرلينغ عقوبة السجن، على خلفية تورطه في حادث سير على أحد الطرق السريعة في إنجلترا خلال مايو الماضي، دون وقوع إصابات.

وبحسب صحيفة «ذا صن»، قد يُحكم على نجم الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز السابق بالسجن لمدة عامين، إذا أُدين بالقيادة الخطرة، بعد اصطدام سيارته اللامبورغيني، التي تبلغ قيمتها 270 ألف جنيه إسترليني، بالحواجز على الطريق السريع M3 المتجه جنوباً بالقرب من تقاطع مينلي.
كما وُجهت إلى ستيرلينغ تهمة حيازة غاز الضحك بقصد استنشاقه بشكل غير قانوني، إلى جانب تهمة عدم تقديم عينة عقب توقيفه، وسيمثل أمام المحكمة الشهر القادم.
غاز الضحك.. مخاطر تهدد لاعبي كرة القدم
وأوضح التقرير أن أكسيد النيتروز، المعروف أيضاً باسم غاز الضحك، أصبح مادة غير قانونية في إنجلترا بعد إعادة تصنيفه مخدراً خاضعاً للرقابة من الفئة «C» في نوفمبر 2023، وينتشر على نطاق واسع بين لاعبي كرة القدم، رغم مخاطره الصحية، التي تشمل زيادة احتمالية الإصابة بالأزمات القلبية والسكتات الدماغية وتلف الدماغ.
وعادة ما يأتي أكسيد النيتروز في عبوات كبيرة تُستخدم لملء البالونات، ثم يُستنشَق الغاز منها بشكل متكرر للحصول على حالة من النشوة قصيرة الأمد.

يُذكر أن رحيم ستيرلينغ (31 عاماً)، لعب لعدد من أبرز الأندية الإنجليزية، إذ ارتدى قمصان ليفربول ومانشستر سيتي وتشيلسي وأرسنال، ويبحث الجناح الإنجليزي حالياً عن تجربة جديدة بعد رحيله عن فينورد الهولندي هذا الصيف.

According to The Sun newspaper, the former Premier League star could be sentenced to two years in prison if convicted of dangerous driving after his £270,000 Lamborghini crashed into barriers on the southbound M3 motorway near the Minley interchange.
Sterling has also been charged with possession of nitrous oxide with the intent to inhale it illegally, along with a charge of failing to provide a sample after being stopped, and he will appear in court next month.
Nitrous Oxide… Risks Threatening Football Players
The report clarified that nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, became illegal in England after being reclassified as a controlled Class “C” drug in November 2023, and it is widely used among football players despite its health risks, which include an increased likelihood of heart attacks, strokes, and brain damage.
Nitrous oxide typically comes in large canisters used to fill balloons, and the gas is then inhaled repeatedly to achieve a short-lived euphoric state.

It is worth noting that Raheem Sterling (31 years old) has played for several prominent English clubs, having worn the jerseys of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal, and the English winger is currently seeking a new experience after leaving Dutch club Feyenoord this summer.
