وأشار وزير الطاقة إلى أن السعودية تمضي في استكشاف اليورانيوم، مع العمل على استخلاص اليورانيوم المصاحب ضمن عملية تصنيع الأسمدة، موضحاً اكتشاف 114 ملايين طن من المعادن الخام التي تحتوي على تركيزات من اليورانيوم في منطقة المدينة المنورة.
توافق مع التزامات المملكة الدولية
وقال وزير الطاقة في كلمته ضمن المؤتمر العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية بنسخته السبعين في فيينا: «إدخال الطاقة النووية ضمن مزيج الطاقة الوطني يأتي وفق إطار تنظيمي راسخ يتوافق مع التزامات المملكة الدولية». وأشار إلى وجود عدم فهم لبعض اتفاقيات المملكة النووية، مؤكداً أن المملكة تواصل العمل وفق الأطر التنظيمية والالتزامات الدولية ذات الصلة.
الممكلة رسخت مكانتها كمصدر موثوق للطاقة
وأوضح وزير الطاقة أن مكانة السعودية كمصدر موثوق للطاقة أصبحت أمراً راسخاً عالمياً.
وقال في كلمته ضمن المؤتمر العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية بنسخته السبعين في فيينا: «المملكة رسخت مكانتها كشريك فاعل في أسواق الطاقة».
وأفاد أن المملكة تعمل على برنامج وطني لاستكشاف اليورانيوم.
إدخال الطاقة النووية أمر أساسي
وأفاد أن اجتماع اليوم يأتي في وقت يشهد فيه العالم نمواً كبيراً بالطلب على الطاقة.
وأضاف: «إن تنويع مصادر الطاقة أصبح ضرورة لدعم نمو الاقتصاد وأمن الإمدادات، وإدخال الطاقة النووية ضمن مزيج المملكة للطاقة بات أمراً أساسياً، حيث تعمل المملكة على تطوير قدراتها عبر شراكات دولية فاعلة.
وأكد التزام المملكة بالشفافية بكل ما تقوم به لتطوير الطاقة النووية.
وتابع:»نعمل على استثمار كافة مواردنا المتعددة سواء من الطاقة أو المعادن”.
ثروات هائلة من المعادن
وأكد الأمير عبدالعزيز بن سلمان أن لدى المملكة ثروات هائلة من المعادن، وأنها ملتزمة بضمان سلاسل توريد المعادن، إلى جانب تطوير اكتشافات المعادن الأرضية النادرة وتحويل المقومات والموارد إلى قيمة اقتصادية مستدامة.
Energy Minister and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman confirmed that Saudi Arabia is not developing its nuclear program in isolation from the international community, but continues to enhance its national and regulatory systems for nuclear energy, and works transparently with partners in the fields of energy and minerals.
The Energy Minister pointed out that Saudi Arabia is moving forward with uranium exploration, while working on extracting associated uranium as part of the fertilizer manufacturing process, explaining the discovery of 110 million tons of ore containing concentrations of uranium in the Medina region.
In line with the Kingdom’s international commitments
The Energy Minister stated in his speech at the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna: “The inclusion of nuclear energy in the national energy mix comes within a solid regulatory framework that aligns with the Kingdom’s international commitments.” He noted the existence of misunderstandings regarding some of the Kingdom’s nuclear agreements, emphasizing that the Kingdom continues to operate within the relevant regulatory frameworks and international obligations.
The Kingdom has established itself as a reliable energy source
The Energy Minister clarified that Saudi Arabia’s position as a reliable energy source has become a globally established fact.
He stated in his speech at the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna: “The Kingdom has established itself as an active partner in energy markets.”
He reported that the Kingdom is working on a national program for uranium exploration.
Incorporating nuclear energy is essential
He indicated that today’s meeting comes at a time when the world is witnessing significant growth in energy demand.
He added: “Diversifying energy sources has become a necessity to support economic growth and supply security, and incorporating nuclear energy into the Kingdom’s energy mix has become essential, as the Kingdom is working to develop its capabilities through effective international partnerships.”
He affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to transparency in all its efforts to develop nuclear energy.
He continued: “We are working to invest all our diverse resources, whether from energy or minerals.”
Vast mineral wealth
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman confirmed that the Kingdom has vast mineral wealth and is committed to ensuring mineral supply chains, in addition to developing discoveries of rare earth minerals and transforming resources into sustainable economic value.
