في 24 يونيو، ضرب فنزويلا زلزالان بلغت قوتهما 7,2 و7,5 درجات وأحدثا دمارا كبيرا في شمال البلاد لا سيما في ولاية لا غوايرا الساحلية قرب العاصمة كراكاس.
وأودى الزلزالان بـ6125 شخصًا وتسببًا في انهيار نحو مئتي مبنى، غالبيتها في لا غوايرا حيث لا يزال نحو 20 ألف شخص يعيشون في مخيمات موقتة أُقيمت في ملاعب وساحات عامة وعلى أرصفة.

هدم مئات المباني
والأسبوع الماضي، بدأت السلطات الفنزويلية هدم مبان في الولاية، في حين تشير الأرقام الرسمية إلى تضرر أكثر من 850 مبنى.
وتسبّب الزلزالان في إصابة قرابة 17 ألف شخص.
ولم تعلن الحكومة عدد المفقودين، إلا أن الخبراء يقدّرون أن عددهم يصل إلى 10 آلاف.
