رحيل لامور يشعل الخلافات.. مشروع إنفانتينو التجاري يعمّق الانقسام داخل «فيفا»

تتواصل تداعيات الأزمة التي يعيشها الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، مع اتساع دائرة الانتقادات الموجهة لرئيسه جياني إنفانتينو، وظهور شرخ واضح داخل البنية الإدارية للاتحاد، بلغ ذروته برحيل مدير العمليات التنفيذي كيفن لامور، أحد أبرز المسؤولين المقربين من القيادة.

وأكد (فيفا) انتهاء علاقة العمل مع لامور، مكتفيًا ببيان مقتضب يشكره على خدماته خلال العامين الماضيين، من دون الإشارة إلى أسباب القرار. إلا أن توقيت رحيله يعيد تسليط الضوء على الانتقادات العلنية التي وجهها الشهر الماضي للمشروع التجاري الذي كان يعتزم إنفانتينو إطلاقه بقيمة 20 مليار دولار، عبر إنشاء شركة تابعة تُباع 20% من أسهمها لمستثمرين خارجيين.

لامور، الذي كان جزءًا من الدائرة التي دعمت إنفانتينو في انتخابات 2016، وصف المشروع بأنه «خطة لشخص واحد»، واتهم الإدارة بتضليل الموظفين بشأن تفاصيله، مؤكدًا أن مهمة الاتحاد هي «خدمة كرة القدم لا خدمة المصالح الشخصية». وجاءت تصريحاته بعد ساعات من استقالة كارلوس كورديرو، كبير مستشاري إنفانتينو؛ احتجاجًا على المشروع نفسه، قبل أن يتراجع (فيفا) عنه تحت ضغط الاعتراضات الداخلية والخارجية.

لكن الأزمة لم تعد محصورة في المشروع التجاري؛ إذ تواجه إعادة انتخاب إنفانتينو لولاية رابعة في مارس المقبل معارضة غير مسبوقة من اتحادات قارية كبرى، بينها (يويفا) والاتحاد الآسيوي و(كونكاكاف)، في حين لا يزال يحظى بدعم الاتحادين الإفريقي والأمريكي الجنوبي. ودعت الاتحادات المعارضة الأسبوع الماضي إلى مراجعة مستقلة لأداء الرئيس، في خطوة اعتُبرت محاولة لإفساح المجال أمام خروجه قبل الدخول في مواجهة أوسع.

كما أعلنت اتحادات وطنية موقفها الرافض؛ بينها الاتحاد الاسكتلندي الذي أكد رئيسه التنفيذي إيان ماكسويل أنه لن يدعم إعادة انتخاب إنفانتينو.

وتتزامن هذه التطورات مع جدل قانوني حول أهلية إنفانتينو للترشح، بعدما طالبت منظمة (فير سكوير) لجنة الحوكمة في (فيفا) باعتباره غير مؤهل، مستندة إلى أن ولايته الأولى بين 2016 و2019 يجب أن تُحتسب ضمن الحد الأقصى البالغ ثلاث ولايات. وتقول المنظمة إن تفسيرًا اعتمده إنفانتينو عام 2022 اعتبر تلك الفترة استكمالًا لولاية سلفه سيب بلاتر، وهو ما تصفه بأنه «انتهاك صريح للقواعد».

وشارك المسؤول السابق في (فيفا) ميغيل مادورو في إعداد الشكوى، مؤكدًا أن تحديد عدد الولايات كان جزءًا أساسيًا من إصلاحات 2016 للحد من تركّز السلطة.

وبين رحيل مسؤولين بارزين، وتراجع عن مشروع تجاري ضخم، واتساع المعارضة القارية والوطنية، والجدل القانوني حول أهلية الترشح، يجد إنفانتينو نفسه أمام واحدة من أكثر اللحظات حساسية منذ توليه رئاسة (فيفا) قبل عقد من الزمن.

The repercussions of the crisis faced by the International Football Federation (FIFA) continue, with the circle of criticism directed at its president Gianni Infantino widening, and a clear rift emerging within the federation’s administrative structure, culminating in the departure of Executive Operations Director Kevin Lamour, one of the key officials close to the leadership.

FIFA confirmed the end of its working relationship with Lamour, issuing a brief statement thanking him for his services over the past two years, without mentioning the reasons for the decision. However, the timing of his departure brings renewed attention to the public criticisms he directed last month at the commercial project that Infantino intended to launch, valued at $20 billion, through the establishment of a subsidiary that would sell 20% of its shares to external investors.

Lamour, who was part of the circle that supported Infantino in the 2016 elections, described the project as a “one-man plan,” accusing the administration of misleading employees about its details, emphasizing that the federation’s mission is “to serve football, not personal interests.” His statements came just hours after the resignation of Carlos Cordeiro, Infantino’s chief advisor, in protest against the project itself, before FIFA retracted it under pressure from internal and external objections.

However, the crisis is no longer limited to the commercial project; Infantino’s bid for a fourth term in the upcoming March elections faces unprecedented opposition from major continental federations, including UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation, and CONCACAF, while he still enjoys the support of the African and South American federations. Last week, the opposing federations called for an independent review of the president’s performance, in a move seen as an attempt to pave the way for his exit before entering into a broader confrontation.

National federations have also announced their rejection; among them, the Scottish Football Association, whose CEO Ian Maxwell confirmed that he would not support Infantino’s re-election.

These developments coincide with a legal controversy regarding Infantino’s eligibility to run, after the organization Fair Square requested FIFA’s governance committee to consider him unqualified, arguing that his first term from 2016 to 2019 should count towards the maximum limit of three terms. The organization claims that an interpretation adopted by Infantino in 2022 considered that period as a continuation of his predecessor Sepp Blatter’s term, which it describes as a “blatant violation of the rules.”

Former FIFA official Miguel Maduro participated in drafting the complaint, asserting that term limits were a fundamental part of the 2016 reforms aimed at reducing the concentration of power.

Amid the departure of prominent officials, the retreat from a massive commercial project, the widening continental and national opposition, and the legal controversy over eligibility to run, Infantino finds himself facing one of the most sensitive moments since he took over the presidency of FIFA a decade ago.
