وكانت العبارة تحمل نحو 180 راكبًا وبضائع، وهي حمولة تفوق حمولتها الموصى بها بكثير.
وانقلبت العبارة إثر أمواج عاتية واجهتها في أثناء رحلتها من مدينة كاريبا إلى مخيم تشالالا للصيد في 11 أغسطس، وتم إنقاذ 77 شخصًا.
