
"Preparing for Eid": Scenes of joy prevail in Riyadh
The markets for men’s supplies, cloaks, and perfumes are witnessing increasing activity during the days leading up to Eid, with a noticeable demand for new clothes, choosing and renewing cloaks, as well as buying perfumes, oud oil, and incense, which are considered essential elements of the Eid appearance in society. The pace of activity in these markets increases as the occasion approaches, in a scene that reflects the keenness of many to appear in the best possible form on Eid morning.

, and the white thobe has a remarkable presence as the most common choice on Eid morning, due to its symbolism associated with purity, simplicity and elegance in the Saudi appearance. This look is completed by wearing the shemagh or ghutra, in addition to the white cloak, which is considered one of the traditional pieces associated with occasions, and gives the appearance a character that reflects the cultural identity and inherited social traditions in the Kingdom.
Tailoring shops experience increased pressure during this period, as many seek to have new clothes tailored or prepared before Eid. Meanwhile, perfume and incense shops see a surge in customers choosing oriental fragrances and oud oil, traditionally associated with social occasions and holidays.
The signs of Eid begin on the first morning with the practice of bathing, applying perfume, and wearing one's finest clothes—a deeply rooted tradition linked to religious and social events. This attention to appearance carries deeper meanings, expressing appreciation for the occasion and celebrating it with joy.

Afterwards, crowds head to prayer grounds and mosques to perform the Eid prayer in an atmosphere filled with takbir and tahlil (expressions of praise to God). Worshippers begin arriving early in the morning in a scene brimming with joy and tranquility, where feelings of gratitude and thanks to God Almighty mingle with the joy of Eid.
The celebrations continue after the prayer with the exchange of greetings among worshippers and visits to relatives and the elderly, within social traditions that strengthen family ties and deepen the values of affection and communication,
reflecting the significance of Eid as an occasion that combines religious and social dimensions. Preparations for Eid, including dressing up, purchasing new clothes, cloaks, and perfumes, remain an integral part of the occasion, expressing the community's desire to celebrate and express gratitude to God Almighty for His blessings.
