The club announced that their Italian coach, Roberto Mancini, was unable to travel to Doha to lead the team. He had previously left for Italy due to a family medical matter, but was unable to return because of the events in the region. The club announced that his assistant, Sergio Allegri, would lead the team until Mancini's return.
Al Sadd's problems did not stop there, as the club also announced that its star Claudinho had left with his family for Doha, noting that they were in constant contact with the player to bring him back as soon as possible.
It is worth noting that the Qatar Stars League Foundation announced the resumption of the Qatari Football League competitions (Doha Bank Stars League) today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) for the 18th round.
The organization stated in a statement that three matches will be held on Thursday evening at the same time, as Al-Sailiya will play against Al-Duhail at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Al-Wakrah will meet Al-Shamal at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, and Qatar will face Al-Gharafa at Al-Thumama Stadium.
The round's matches will be completed tomorrow (Friday) with 3 more matches, as Al-Ahli plays against Al-Arabi at Al-Thumama Stadium, Al-Rayyan meets Al-Shahaniya at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, and Al-Sadd faces Umm Salal at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Al Sadd leads the league standings after the 17th round with 38 points, followed by Al Gharafa in second place with 34 points, and then Al Shamal in third place with 31 points.
