
Saudi Arabia welcomes the ceasefire and affirms its support for de-escalation and regional stability
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome of the announcement by His Excellency the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, and the announcement by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, that the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached an agreement to cease hostilities between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting in this context the fruitful efforts made by His Excellency, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, Commander of the Defense Forces and Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, in reaching this agreement.
The Kingdom affirms its support for the mediation efforts undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to reach a permanent agreement that achieves security and stability and addresses all the issues that have caused instability and insecurity over several decades.
At the same time, the Kingdom emphasizes the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open for navigation in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea without any restrictions.
The Kingdom hopes that the ceasefire will provide an opportunity to reach a comprehensive and sustainable truce, which will enhance the security of the region, and that any attacks or policies that affect the sovereignty, security and stability of the countries of the region will cease.
