The Kingdom: We continue our efforts to enhance maritime security

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated, represented byPublic Transport Authority At the extraordinary session of the Council of the International Maritime Organization in London, the Kingdom's delegation was headed by the Kingdom's Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization “IMO” Engineer Kamal bin Mohammed Al-Junaidi.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Kingdom’s delegation participating in the session, Al-Junaidi affirmed the Kingdom’s full commitment to the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), particularly with regard to navigational warnings, search and rescue operations, ship guidance, and avoidance of maritime hazards.

Protecting sea lanes

He explained that the Kingdom emphasizes the importance of protecting maritime routes, freedom of navigation, and ensuring the stability of energy markets and global supply chains. He stated that the Kingdom will continue its work as a responsible partner, committed to ensuring maritime safety and preserving lives, and supporting the international order based on law and mutual cooperation.
Regarding strengthening international cooperation, the Kingdom affirmed that, through its strategic location and regional and international role, it will continue and exert all efforts to enhance maritime security by strengthening maritime surveillance, exchanging information, raising readiness and response to any threats, and facilitating the flow of global trade through safe and stable waterways.
This work is an extension of the Kingdom's efforts within the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), where it is an active member and supporter of international initiatives. The Public Transport Authority represents the Kingdom on the IMO Council and continues to activate its commitments to joint international agreements and treaties and contribute to international decision-making.
