During his meeting with the head of the "Itaam" initiative, the Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province emphasized the importance of reducing food waste

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, the importance of promoting a culture of food preservation and reducing food waste . He noted that these efforts represent a humanitarian and social value that contributes to supporting needy families and reflects societal awareness of the importance of utilizing resources and avoiding waste. He commended the role played by the Saudi Food Bank Association “ Itaam ” in this field.
This came during the Deputy Governor's reception, at his office in the Governorate building on Wednesday, of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Food Bank Association “Itaam,” Abdul Latif bin Abdullah Al-Rajhi, accompanied by members of the Board.

Efforts to preserve surplus food

During the meeting, His Highness was briefed on the final report for the Ramadan season of 1447 AH, which included efforts to preserve surplus food and deliver it to those who deserve it, and the implementation of voluntary initiatives and food shopping projects.

In addition to the “Break Your Fast Safely” initiative to distribute breakfast meals, more than 50,000 families and 98 civil associations have benefited from these programs, in addition to the pilot operation of the association’s branch in the Madinah region within the non-profit food system.

Al-Rajhi expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province for his support and interest, stressing that the association will continue to develop its initiatives and enhance its impact in preserving blessings and serving the community.
