وأفادت الهيئة -حسبما ذكرت هيئة الإذاعة اليابانية (إن إتش كيه)- بأن مركز الزلزال وقع على عمق 40 كيلومترًا، فيما لم يتم إصدار أي تحذيرات من احتمال وقوع موجات مد عاتية (تسونامي) في أعقاب الضربة الأرضية.
