Chinese President Xi Jinping said during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Wednesday that resuming military operations in the Middle East would be "inappropriate," after US President Donald Trump threatened to resume strikes on Iran.
The official Xinhua news agency quoted Xi Jinping as saying, “The situation in the Gulf region is at a crossroads between war and peace. It is urgently necessary to achieve a complete cessation of hostilities.”.
He added, “Resuming military operations would not be appropriate, and continuing negotiations is more important than ever.”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the "strong and positive" momentum in cooperation between Russia And China, during his talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday.
“Even under unfavorable external factors, our synergy and economic cooperation are showing strong and positive momentum,” Putin told Xi during their meeting at the Great Hall of the People, according to a video broadcast by Russian media.
