Breaking News – Ports Authority: Launch of a maritime service linking Dammam to the Gulf and Iraq

Announced General Authority for Ports “Mawani” link King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam With the Gulf and Iraqi port network, through the addition of the new shipping service “GULF SHUTTLE” belonging to “MSC”, with a capacity of 3000 standard containers.
The General Authority for Ports explained that the newly introduced service connects Dammam Port Strategically, directly with the ports of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and Umm Qasr in Iraq.

The authority explained that this regional connection enhances the port's operational efficiency and supports the smooth flow of global trade through Saudi waters.
This step underscores the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to bolster national exports and strengthen the competitiveness of Saudi ports on the international maritime transport map.
Mawani (Saudi Ports Authority) noted that this expansion of shipping routes aligns with the objectives of the current National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

The authority highlighted the port's pivotal role in solidifying the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents and facilitating the flow of goods to markets.
Official figures revealed that King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam boasts a comprehensive infrastructure and logistics facilities, including 43 fully equipped berths.
The authority added that the port's total handling capacity reaches 105 million tons of cargo, making it a fertile and attractive environment for major international companies.
