
486,000 head of livestock inspected... "Wiqaa" raises its readiness to serve pilgrims in Mecca and Medina
has completed The National Center for its field preparations to serve the pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH, through an integrated preventive system in the Makkah and Madinah regions, supported by specialized technical teams and technical and human capabilities aimed at enhancing health and food security and ensuring a safe and healthy Hajj season.
The center intensified its inspection and detection work at the ports of Makkah on various livestock shipments, to ensure the safety of livestock, sacrificial animals and offerings, which contributes to protecting public health and raising the level of food safety for pilgrims, in addition to carrying out insect investigation work and exploring disease vector sites.
The center deployed 191 specialists, including veterinarians and technical assistants, working through 67 field and emergency teams equipped with the latest technologies, to carry out intensive monitoring and investigation tours aimed at reducing epidemic risks and proactively controlling them.
The field teams at the ports of Makkah recorded remarkable operational figures, which included examining 394,570 heads of livestock, ensuring the safety of more than 4 million released poultry, in addition to examining 169,616 heads of sheep and 777 heads of cattle, as part of efforts to enhance food quality and safety.
The center also carried out 1,138 investigation tours and 1,054 field control tours, in addition to 2,532 awareness tours targeting breeders and owners, and 2,601 monitoring tours in public benefit markets to ensure the safety and security of livestock.
In the area of pest control, the “Wiqa” teams completed desert locust surveys over an area of 31,390 hectares, in addition to surveying black grasshoppers and grasshoppers over an area exceeding 3,726 hectares.
In Madinah, the center’s branch continued to implement its intensive preventive plans, where more than 92,111 heads of imported sheep and cattle were examined, and 569 monitoring tours were carried out on livestock markets and slaughterhouses, in addition to more than 2,657 tours for larval and insect investigation of disease vectors, with the aim of enhancing the safety of visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque.
The center also provided guidance and awareness support to 2,754 beneficiaries through 1,214 field visits, in parallel with the implementation of desert locust exploration work on an area of 29,024 hectares, and covering 8,981 dunams to explore for black grasshoppers and grasshoppers.
The “Wiqa” Center confirmed that the state of maximum alert continues through its field teams until the end of the Hajj season, within the framework of integrated work with the authorities concerned with serving the pilgrims, and in embodiment of the center’s mission to protect health and food security according to the highest quality standards in the holiest of places.
