Barcelona coach Hansi Flick revealed his stance on promoting youth team striker Hamza Abdel Karim, following the announcement of Robert Lewandowski's departure after the end of the current season.
During the press conference ahead of the match against Valencia in the Spanish League, Flick responded to the possibility of promoting the Egyptian player to participate in the team's pre-season training camp: "We are planning for the pre-season, and we will see which players we will choose from the La Masia academy. This also happened this season, but it may be a suitable option for us.".

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will activate the option to buy Hamza Abdel Karim, 18, from the Egyptian club Al Ahly for three million euros.
The newspaper added that the player's presence in the preliminary list of the Egyptian national team in preparation for the 2026 World Cup prompted Barcelona to accelerate the steps to activate the option of signing him permanently.
