US Energy Secretary announces date for end of war with Iran

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that the war with Iran could end within the next few weeks, and perhaps even sooner, amid growing concerns about rising fuel prices.

In an interview with ABC News, Wright said: "I think this conflict will definitely end in the coming weeks, it may happen sooner, but it will certainly come to an end in weeks.".

Gasoline price increase

The energy secretary added, "Americans may see a decline in gasoline prices in the coming weeks." However, he emphasized that there are no guarantees in wartime. He added, "There are no guarantees in war, and this is a short-term pain that will eventually lead to a much better situation.".

Wright had previously indicated the possibility of the US Navy escorting oil tankers through the strait, but stressed that the US Navy was not yet ready to take this step.

Wright's remarks come at a time when Americans are facing a significant rise in gasoline prices as a result of the war.

stress factors

Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz is a major source of pressure in the energy market, as the waterway is a transit point for approximately 20% of the world's oil supply, connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. A de facto closure of the strait has led to a surge in crude oil prices and increased fuel prices in the United States.

According to data from GasBuddy, the average price of gasoline in the United States has risen by about 76 cents per gallon since the outbreak of the war, a significant increase in a short period.
