300,000 volunteers in the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing initiatives 2025
In a move reflecting growing community awareness and embodying the spirit of giving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing revealed a new record in the volunteer work sector, with more than 300,000 male and female volunteers participating in the various initiatives launched by the sector during 2025. This achievement reinforces the position of volunteer work as a fundamental pillar in national development and contributes directly to improving the urban landscape and raising the quality of life in various cities and governorates of the Kingdom.
Volunteering is a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This achievement cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader context of the Kingdom's national transformation, where volunteer work is a key pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to reach one million volunteers annually. The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing acts as a strategic partner in achieving this ambitious goal by providing a stimulating and supportive environment for volunteers and creating high-quality volunteer opportunities that align with the skills and interests of diverse segments of society, thereby strengthening the values of responsible citizenship and social solidarity.
Diverse routes covering all needs
The ministry clarified that the initiatives were not random, but rather part of well-planned strategies to cover all aspects of municipal and residential work. These strategies included:
- Housing track: which focuses on supporting the most needy families and improving their housing environment.
- Urban Landscape Improvement Pathway: This aims to remove visual distortions and beautify cities, including planting trees and taking care of public gardens, which adds an aesthetic character and promotes environmental sustainability.
- Monitoring and oversight track: To involve the community in monitoring municipal observations and contributing to addressing them.
- The path of preserving blessings and honoring the dead: These are paths with a deep human and social dimension that reflect the authentic values of Saudi society.
Sustainable developmental and social impact
The participation of such a large number of volunteers is not only significant in terms of numbers, but also in its substantial economic and social impact. Economically, volunteers contribute to reducing the operational costs of some services and maximizing the return on available resources. Socially, these initiatives strengthen community cohesion and foster a sense of belonging and responsibility towards public property and service facilities.
The ministry concluded by affirming its continued approach to developing the volunteer work system and empowering the non-profit sector to be an active partner in sustainable urban development, noting that the door is still open for everyone to contribute their ideas and efforts to building a better future for the Kingdom’s cities.
