A journey of patience ended in bitter departure
The last days in Abdulrahman Al-Bishi’s life were not just a medical chapter in the biography of a former player, but a heavy human journey that ended with his departure after a long struggle with illness.
Al-Bishi was transferred to Riyadh by medical evacuation plane after his health deteriorated, and he stayed in intensive care before being transferred to a ward, in a final attempt to recover his health.
Those days were a dividing line between hope and exhaustion, between the memory of the stadiums that knew his name as an international player, and the reality of the illness that burdened his body.
He was no longer able to speak aloud, so he began writing his words, which were then transcribed electronically into audible speech. Nevertheless, he remained full of gratitude; he thanked the leadership for their care of his treatment and expressed his deep appreciation to his family, especially his wife, who bore the burden of caring for him during his difficult health condition.
Abdul Rahman passed away, carried on the palms of those praying for mercy for him.
And so his last days passed between the treatment equipment and the silence of the hospital rooms, until fate brought the journey to a close with his departure. Al-Bishi left life after a career in which the public knew him as a distinguished player, and at the end of which they knew him as a patient human being who faced the disease with dignity until the last moment.
