Buqayq Municipality: 557 inspection tours to ensure food safety during Ramadan

The municipality of Buqayq Governorate has intensified its field efforts to an unprecedented degree, announcing the implementation of a wide range of inspection measures targeting commercial and food establishments in the governorate. These intensified efforts come as part of proactive preparations for the holy month of Ramadan. Field teams recorded a significant inspection achievement, conducting 557 inspection tours during February 2026, with the aim of ensuring the highest standards of safety and public health for citizens and residents.
Enhancing quality of life and municipal compliance
These campaigns are part of a broader strategy aimed at improving the urban landscape and enhancing the quality of life in Buqayq Governorate, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on human health and food safety. These inspections are particularly important in the period leading up to Ramadan, given the increased consumption and demand for food products, necessitating heightened monitoring to ensure markets are free from any practices that could harm consumers, and reinforcing the municipal sector's role in protecting the community from potential health risks.
Monitoring violations and taking decisive action
The meticulous field efforts resulted in the identification and issuance of 70 warnings and citations to establishments that failed to comply with municipal and health regulations. The municipality emphasized that these measures were not solely punitive, but aimed at correcting practices and ensuring adherence to regulations. The campaign included a comprehensive and thorough survey of restaurants, pastry shops, bakeries, and food warehouses to verify the safety of storage and preparation methods, the suitability of ingredients for human consumption, and the health certificates of employees.
Comprehensive oversight that goes beyond food
The inspection tours were not limited to the food sector, but extended to include aspects related to public health and personal hygiene. Municipal teams launched thorough inspection campaigns on men's barbershops and women's beauty salons to ensure the sterilization of tools and the use of authorized materials. Furthermore, unlicensed street vendors that could pose a visual blight or health risk were dealt with firmly to ensure a safe and regulated environment throughout the governorate.
Continued monitoring throughout the holy month
For his part, the Mayor of Buqayq Governorate, Engineer Mohammed Al-Dhafeeri , emphasized that these campaigns are not temporary, but rather part of an ongoing action plan that will continue and intensify throughout the holy month of Ramadan. Al-Dhafeeri explained that the municipality will not tolerate any violations of regulations, calling on business owners to cooperate and adhere to health standards to provide services befitting the residents and visitors of the governorate. He stressed that consumer awareness and community cooperation in reporting violations are fundamental pillars of successful oversight.
