This study comes within the framework of the significant progress witnessed in the women's scouting sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 aimed at empowering women and increasing the number of volunteers to one million. The Wood Badge is one of the most important and prestigious leadership qualifications in the global scouting movement, symbolizing the completion of a leader's skills and their ability to manage scouting teams and units efficiently and effectively.
Strategic goals and advanced training
The Saudi Arabian Scouts Association aims, through this specialized study, to refine the skills of female scout leaders and enhance their technical and administrative competence in leading various scout units. The program seeks to qualify participants for the advanced stage of the scout leadership ladder through a comprehensive training methodology that skillfully integrates theoretical academic aspects with practical field applications, thus ensuring the graduation of a generation of female leaders capable of assuming responsibility and serving the community.
Comprehensive and diverse training program
The program schedule includes an intensive series of specialized training sessions covering all aspects of scouting. The lectures delve into the responsibilities and duties of a scout unit leader and her pivotal role in developing girls' abilities and shaping their character. The latest international training methods and techniques are also reviewed, and the concept of leadership and its various styles, as well as modern theories in educational management, are discussed.
The program also addressed the planning aspect, dedicating sessions to strategic planning and the characteristics of a successful plan, in addition to an in-depth explanation of scouting curricula and how to implement them appropriately for different age groups. A strong emphasis was placed on the role of scouting in community service and fostering social responsibility among individuals.
Field skills and wilderness survival
On the practical side, the program includes hands-on training in preparing theoretical research and developing the financial and human resources of scouting units. The program culminates in a significant event: the field trip, a cornerstone of scouting tradition. During this trip, participants will learn advanced land navigation skills, the use of secret signs, topographic mapping, direction and estimation techniques, as well as codebreaking and deciphering encrypted messages. These skills not only enhance practical leadership abilities but also instill concepts of self-reliance, teamwork, and decision-making in open environments.
