The Governor of Al-Ahsa launches the identity of the new Healthy Cities program

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, inaugurated a pivotal phase in the province's sustainable development journey by launching the new visual identity for the "Healthy Cities" program during his chairmanship of the committee's main meeting at the governorate headquarters. His Highness emphasized the need to unify efforts across all sectors to transform Al-Ahsa into a global model to be emulated in the field of public health and quality of life.
Healthy Cities Program: A Global Context and National Vision
This launch comes within the context of Saudi Arabia's growing interest in the Healthy Cities Program, a global initiative launched by the World Health Organization that aims to place health at the forefront of decision-makers' agendas in cities. The Kingdom is a regional leader in this field, having successfully registered a significant number of its cities within the global Healthy Cities Network, reflecting a firm governmental commitment to improving the social and environmental determinants of health.
His Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa affirmed that the program represents a strategic national pillar that goes beyond the traditional concept of therapeutic services, extending to improving the urban environment, promoting healthy behaviors, and providing green spaces and public facilities that support physical activity, stressing that Al-Ahsa, with its cultural heritage and natural resources as the largest palm oasis in the world, is fully qualified to lead the way and achieve international standards efficiently.
Institutional integration and quality of life
As part of his directives, Prince Saud bin Talal called for moving beyond individual efforts and embracing comprehensive institutional integration. He urged the public, private, and non-profit sectors to work as a unified team to ensure the accurate implementation of global best practices. This approach is closely linked to the Quality of Life Program, one of the key programs of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to improve the lifestyle of individuals and families and build a society where its members enjoy a balanced way of life.
The importance of the event and its future impact
This event is of particular importance given Al-Ahsa Governorate's strategic position as a promising tourist and economic destination. Obtaining Healthy Cities accreditation and implementing its standards will not only benefit the health of residents but will also enhance the governorate's investment appeal and elevate its ranking as a friendly environment to live and work. Furthermore, promoting the concept of sustainable health through the new identity will contribute to raising community awareness about the importance of prevention and environmental conservation.
The meeting concluded with a detailed review of the achievement rates and performance indicators, during which an executive roadmap was developed that focuses on activating direct coordination mechanisms between subcommittees, and designing quality initiatives that address the actual needs of the local community, ensuring that slogans are transformed into a tangible reality that every citizen and resident in Al-Ahsa can experience.
