Al-Alimi: Security and service achievements in Yemen with direct Saudi support

Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, affirmed that the Council and the legitimate government continue to achieve tangible accomplishments on the security, military and service levels, stressing that these steps would not have been achieved without the generous and continuous support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Strengthening security and military stability
This came during meetings between the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and a number of ambassadors and international envoys, where Al-Alimi explained that efforts to unify the military and security institutions are progressing steadily. He pointed out that the relative stability witnessed in the liberated governorates, especially the interim capital Aden, reflects the success of the security plans recently implemented. The Joint Security and Military Committee, formed under the declaration of the transfer of power in April 2022, is working to restructure and integrate the forces to ensure a high level of readiness in confronting terrorist challenges and the practices of the Houthi militias.
The Saudi role: A pillar of development and services
In discussing the service and economic sectors, Al-Alimi highly praised Saudi Arabia's swift and strategic interventions. He specifically mentioned the Saudi oil derivatives grant, which directly contributed to the continued operation of power plants in the liberated governorates, thus alleviating the suffering of citizens. He also addressed the financial support provided to the Central Bank of Yemen, which played a pivotal role in curbing inflation and maintaining the stability of the national currency at acceptable levels, given the difficult economic conditions caused by the war.
Context of events and the importance of regional support
These statements come at a time when Yemen is facing complex economic and humanitarian challenges stemming from the halt in oil exports due to Houthi attacks on ports, depriving the state treasury of its most important revenue. This underscores the importance of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), which is implementing hundreds of projects in the health, education, roads, and water sectors, representing a lifeline for the country's crumbling infrastructure.
Local and international impact
Observers believe that Al-Alimi's emphasis on these achievements before the international community carries significant political messages, namely that the Presidential Leadership Council is the effective partner capable of governing the country and achieving stability, with the support of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy. This stance strengthens the chances of garnering international support for Yemen, not only in terms of humanitarian aid but also in development and economic sectors, thus paving the way for a more stable environment that will help advance the UN-led peace efforts to end the years-long conflict.
