In an atmosphere steeped in history and the authenticity of the past, the Baha Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a "Best Traditional Costume" competition as part of a series of celebratory programs and events launched to commemorate Saudi Arabia's National Day. The event witnessed widespread community engagement, reflecting a deep connection to the Kingdom's historical roots.

Extensive community participation in the Container Walkway

The Container Walkway in Al-Baha, specifically at the premises of the literary partner "Buka Cafe," hosted the competition, which attracted a large number of visitors and participants. The event was distinguished by a remarkable turnout from various age groups, with men, women, and children competing to wear traditional costumes representing the authentic folk heritage of the region and the Kingdom in general. The venue was transformed into a national artistic tableau embodying the rich cultural and civilizational diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Founding Day: A reminder of three centuries of glory

This event comes within the context of the national celebrations commemorating the Founding Day, which falls on February 22nd each year. This day symbolizes the deep historical and cultural roots of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, marking the establishment of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1139 AH / 1272 AD. This occasion provides an opportunity to recall the stories of struggle and nation-building undertaken by the imams and kings, and to reinforce the values of patriotism and loyalty to the leadership. The Baha Chamber of Commerce sought to instill these values by connecting new generations with the heritage of their forefathers through this competition.

Traditional costumes: a visual identity and a story to be told

The competition was more than just a fashion show; it was a cultural event aimed at showcasing the beauty and diversity of traditional Saudi dress. Traditional clothing is an integral part of national identity and a living testament to the social and economic life of bygone eras. Such initiatives contribute to preserving this heritage from extinction and encourage artisans and productive families involved in traditional clothing production, thus adding an economic and cultural dimension to the celebration.

Honoring the winners and supporting national initiatives

At the conclusion of the event, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Baha Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Mashi bin Mohammed Al-Amri, honored the winners of the Best Traditional Costume competition, praising the high quality of the entries and the meticulous attention to detail in the displayed costumes. Mr. Al-Amri also commended the enthusiastic participation of residents and visitors, emphasizing that the Chamber of Commerce prioritizes supporting community initiatives that strengthen national identity and contribute to instilling a love of heritage in the younger generation, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which cherishes national heritage and makes it a fundamental pillar of quality of life.
