The status of the Friday sermon in Islam

The Friday sermon occupies a pivotal position in Islam. It is not merely a weekly religious ritual, but a unique platform for communication, guidance, and education. Since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Friday sermon has been the primary means of guiding the Muslim community, reminding them of the foundations of their faith, discussing contemporary issues, and reinforcing the values of solidarity, unity, and faith. The sermons delivered from the pulpits of the Two Holy Mosques are of particular importance, as they are followed by millions of Muslims worldwide through live broadcasts and simultaneous translations, making them a universal message that transcends the boundaries of time and place.

The importance and impact of the event

The selection of preachers for the Two Holy Mosques is a meticulous process, given their profound impact both locally and internationally. Locally, these sermons contribute to strengthening religious awareness and disseminating the values of moderation and tolerance championed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while rejecting extremism and fanaticism. Regionally and internationally, the entire Muslim world looks to the guidance and directives emanating from the pulpits of the Two Holy Mosques, particularly on major issues of concern to the Muslim community. Both Sheikh Al-Juhani and Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi are renowned for their vast knowledge and compelling delivery. Sheikh Al-Juhani is distinguished by his melodious voice and reverent recitation that captivates worshippers, while Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi is among the oldest and most experienced imams of the Prophet's Mosque, known for his dignified style and comprehensive sermons that address the fundamentals of Islam and contemporary issues with a clear and scholarly approach.

Efforts of the Presidency of Religious Affairs

These arrangements are part of the ongoing efforts of the General Presidency for Religious Affairs to enhance the religious message of the Two Holy Mosques and convey it to the world in the best possible way. The Presidency is working to empower imams and preachers to fulfill their mission effectively and to provide all means to ensure that the content of sermons reaches the widest possible audience of Muslims, including providing simultaneous translation of the Friday sermon into several international languages. This reflects the Kingdom's leading role in serving Islam and Muslims.
