Al-Rafia Municipality: Planting 6,000 trees and removing waste to improve the urban landscape

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development and achieve the objectives of the Quality of Life Program, one of the most important programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, Al-Rafia Municipality its field and monitoring efforts during the past month, recording record numbers in improving the urban landscape and upgrading the services provided to residents.
Enhancing vegetation cover and environmental dimension
The municipality has given special attention to the environment and beautifying the city. Parks and landscaping teams have implemented a comprehensive campaign that includes the planting and landscaping of 5,954 trees and saplings of various types in main streets, squares, and public parks. This step aligns with the "Green Saudi Arabia" initiative, which aims to increase green spaces and combat desertification, thereby contributing to lower temperatures and improved air quality.
The efforts were not limited to agriculture alone, but extended to include the maintenance and rehabilitation of 8,750 square meters of green spaces, to be a healthy and safe haven for residents and visitors, reflecting the municipality’s keenness to humanize cities and provide a sustainable healthy environment.
Addressing visual distortion and improving services
In the context of combating visual pollution, the Mayor of Al-Rafia, Mr. Saud Al-Duwaish, explained that field teams were able to remove 780 cubic meters of construction and demolition debris of unknown origin, in addition to erasing 12 meters of graffiti. The sanitation department also successfully collected 3,370 tons of household waste as part of a daily operation that ensures the maintenance of public cleanliness and environmental health in the city.
Infrastructure maintenance and traffic safety
On the infrastructure front, operations and maintenance teams completed vital work, including repairing several electrical transformers and maintaining streetlights in various locations, thus enhancing security and traffic safety at night. This work coincided with addressing potholes in the streets to ensure smooth traffic flow and protect vehicles from damage, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the internal road network.
Strict monitoring to ensure compliance
In addition to its supervisory role, the municipality carried out 101 inspection tours of commercial and food establishments, which resulted in issuing 4 warnings to non-compliant establishments, in order to ensure compliance with health and municipal requirements, and to guarantee the safety of products provided to consumers.
Al-Duwaish concluded his statement by emphasizing that these works are part of a comprehensive and ongoing operational plan aimed at making Al-Rafia a model of civilization to be emulated in the Eastern Province, calling on everyone to cooperate with the municipality to preserve public gains.
