Al-Baha: 49 commercial violations recorded and intensive preparations underway for Ramadan

Markets and shopping centers in the Al-Baha region have witnessed a surge in economic activity and a noticeable increase in purchasing power over the past few days, coinciding with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. This commercial activity is part of the usual annual preparations undertaken by Saudi families to secure their needs for essential food and supplies, amidst ample availability and reassuring stability in supply chains, reflecting the readiness of local markets to meet the increased demand during this blessed season.

Context of the event and the importance of seasonal censorship

The period preceding Ramadan holds particular significance in the economic and social calendar of Saudi Arabia, representing the peak season for the retail and food sectors. In this context, the Ministry of Commerce's inspection tours are not only crucial for identifying violations but also serve as a safeguard to ensure price stability and prevent any monopolistic practices that might arise from increased demand. These proactive efforts bolster consumer confidence in the local market and guarantee that subsidized and essential goods reach consumers at fair prices, which positively impacts the region's economic stability.

Details of the inspection tours in Al-Baha

As part of these intensified efforts, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, Director of the Control Department at the Ministry of Commerce branch in Al-Baha region, explained that inspection teams have doubled their field presence. These tours included major shopping centers, public markets, small food establishments, and warehouses. The primary objective of these field operations is to ensure the availability of goods, compliance with applicable regulations, and adherence by merchants to consumer protection standards, including the display of price tags and expiration dates.

Official statistics released by the branch revealed that 448 thorough field inspections were conducted during the recent period. These inspection campaigns resulted in the detection and seizure of 49 various commercial violations, which were dealt with immediately, and the prescribed penalties were applied in accordance with the regulations and instructions adopted by the Ministry. Al-Ghamdi emphasized that these campaigns will not cease but will continue at an increasing pace in the coming days and throughout the holy month to ensure a regulated and fair commercial environment.

The role of the consumer and community partnership

In closing, Al-Ghamdi emphasized the pivotal role of the consumer as the "first line of defense" in the regulatory process, urging all citizens and residents of the Al-Baha region to report any observations or commercial violations they may encounter. Reports can be easily submitted through the "Commercial Report" application available on smartphones, or by contacting the unified reporting center at 1900. This call reinforces the principle of transparency and strengthens the partnership between regulatory bodies and the community to protect consumer rights and ensure a safe shopping experience for everyone during the holy month of Ramadan.
