Pakistani conjoined twins Sufyan and Yusuf arrive in Riyadh

The Pakistani conjoined twins, Sufyan and Yusuf, arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, accompanied by their parents, in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Upon their arrival, the twins were immediately transferred to King Abdullah Specialized Children's Hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard, where they were received by a specialized medical team to study their condition and conduct the necessary medical examinations to consider the possibility of performing a separation surgery.

The Saudi program for separating conjoined twins: a global leader

The arrival of the twins, Sufyan and Yusuf, is a continuation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's significant humanitarian efforts in this delicate medical field. The Kingdom is a global leader in separating conjoined twins, and the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins boasts a distinguished record of medical achievements that have garnered international recognition.

This program is overseen by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and Head of the Medical and Surgical Team. Since its establishment in 1990, the program has reviewed hundreds of cases from dozens of countries around the world, reflecting the global medical community's confidence in Saudi expertise and the Kingdom's advanced healthcare system.

Human dimensions that transcend borders

The significance of this event extends beyond the medical aspect, carrying profound humanitarian dimensions that underscore the Kingdom's pioneering role in humanitarian work without discrimination. The Kingdom typically covers all expenses for the twins' surgeries, treatment, and accommodation, as well as those of their families, thus solidifying Saudi Arabia's position as a "Kingdom of Humanity." These initiatives are an integral part of the Kingdom's vision to provide assistance to those in need and alleviate the suffering of families facing such complex medical challenges.

A proven track record of successes

Documented statistics indicate that the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins has studied more than 130 cases from over 25 countries and performed dozens of successful separation surgeries, making King Abdulaziz Medical City a global destination for this type of complex surgery. Saudi medical teams possess unique, accumulated expertise in dealing with various conjoined twin cases, whether at the head, chest, abdomen, or pelvis, achieving very high success rates compared to global averages.

The arrival of the Pakistani twins reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as the Kingdom has previously received and performed successful separation operations on several twins from Pakistan in previous years, which has strengthened the popular and humanitarian ties between the two brotherly countries.
