Bahrain University of Applied Sciences launches PhD programs in accounting and management
The University of Applied Sciences in the Kingdom of Bahrain has officially announced the opening of registration and admissions for two new postgraduate programs: a PhD in Accounting and a PhD in Business Administration. This significant step aligns with the university's strategic direction to enhance scientific research and elevate the level of higher education in the Kingdom, in accordance with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, which focuses on investing in human capital and building a knowledge-based economy.
This announcement is particularly significant given the rapid developments in higher education across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, where the demand for highly qualified national talent to lead economic and academic institutions is growing. Through these advanced academic programs, the university aims to cultivate a select group of researchers and professional leaders capable of keeping pace with the dynamic changes in the global business environment and providing innovative solutions to contemporary economic challenges.
Commenting on this achievement, Professor Waheeb Al-Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Applied Sciences, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the General Secretariat of the Higher Education Council for their ongoing support, which enabled the university to offer these high-quality programs. Al-Khaja emphasized that the university was committed to ensuring the highest quality standards through a strategic partnership with the World Islamic Sciences and Education University in Jordan, a prestigious academic institution renowned for its excellence in doctoral programs. This partnership aims to exchange expertise and develop curricula that meet the latest global requirements and address the needs of the Gulf labor market.
For his part, Professor Hatem Al-Masri, the university president, explained that the launch of the two doctoral programs represents a qualitative leap in the university's academic journey. He noted that the programs were carefully designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application. This methodology aims to empower students to address real-world and complex issues in the fields of accounting and business administration, thereby enhancing their critical and strategic thinking skills and enabling them to contribute effectively to the development of the institutions where they work, both locally and regionally.
In a related context, Professor Ahmed Abu Jari, Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, affirmed that the two programs are based on an integrated research system supported by international partnerships, thus providing students with the opportunity to benefit from advanced research supervision and diverse global expertise. He added that this stimulating environment will undoubtedly contribute to raising the quality of scientific output and enhancing opportunities for publication in prestigious scientific journals, as well as building broad professional and academic networks that serve the researchers' career paths.
Regarding the details of the specializations, Professor Ziad Zureikat, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, indicated that the PhD in Accounting program will focus intensively on advanced financial issues and strategic decision-making mechanisms, while the PhD in Business Administration aims to hone leadership, innovation, and future planning skills. Zureikat noted that the teaching and supervision process will be conducted in close collaboration with the World Islamic Sciences and Education University, whose graduates hold senior leadership positions in various public and private sectors.
To encourage those wishing to continue their academic journey, the university announced a 20% scholarship for all students who register in the coming weeks on the occasion of the launch of these programs, inviting those interested to seize this unique educational opportunity.
