King Salman Center distributes food baskets in Berber, Sudan

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the brotherly Sudanese people, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 700 food baskets to the most vulnerable and displaced families in Berber locality, River Nile State, Sudan. Approximately 4,550 individuals benefited from this urgent assistance, which falls under the 2026 “Madad Sudan” project, aimed at providing food security to affected groups.
This step complements the Kingdom's leading role in alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where aid has not been limited to food distribution but has encompassed a comprehensive system of logistical and relief support. It is worth noting that the Kingdom, represented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has operated an air and sea bridge since the beginning of the crisis to transport urgent aid, with the number of relief flights reaching 13 to date, in addition to 60 ships loaded with tons of food, shelter materials, and medical supplies.
In the broader context, Sudan is experiencing a highly complex humanitarian crisis due to the current situation, which has led to massive waves of displacement from the capital, Khartoum, and conflict zones to safer states such as River Nile State. These waves have placed immense pressure on local resources, making external humanitarian intervention an urgent necessity to meet the basic needs of both the displaced and host communities. Saudi aid is working to bridge this gap by providing food, medicine, and shelter.
Official statistics indicate that the total value of aid provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sudan through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has exceeded US$125,566,000. This aid encompasses a variety of vital sectors, including health, the environment, support for humanitarian operations, volunteer programs, and direct community support. The Center has also focused on enhancing the efficiency of the humanitarian response by signing numerous agreements and partnerships with specialized international and UN organizations to ensure that aid reaches those in need across Sudan.
This ongoing support reflects the deep fraternal ties between the Saudi and Sudanese peoples and underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to the principles of Arab and Islamic solidarity. The continued flow of aid via air and sea bridges represents a lifeline for thousands of families who have lost their livelihoods and homes, thus contributing to strengthening their resilience in the face of the difficult living conditions imposed by the current crisis.
