As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the healthcare system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Makkah Health Cluster revealed remarkable statistics on the performance of the Home Healthcare Department at Hira General Hospital . The department successfully provided comprehensive medical and social services to more than 13,724 beneficiaries during 2025. This achievement reflects the healthcare sector's commitment to implementing the highest international standards in serving patients within their family environment.
Details of therapeutic and preventive services
Data released by the health cluster provided a detailed breakdown of the services offered, with 264 new patients registered for the home healthcare program. The services ranged from specialized treatments to more complex procedures, including intravenous therapy provided to 18 patients through 93 field visits, highlighting the medical staff's expertise in managing cases requiring specialized care outside of the hospital setting.
The care was not limited to the pharmaceutical aspect only, but also included dental services that were carried out through 38 home visits, in addition to the great nutritional support that was represented in the dispensing of supplements and medical supplies to 7,288 beneficiaries, which is a basic pillar in maintaining the stability of the health condition of patients, especially the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
Integration with Vision 2030 and the health transformation
These figures take on particular significance when viewed within the context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Health Transformation Program. Expanding home healthcare services is a strategic objective of the Ministry of Health, aiming to alleviate pressure on hospital beds, reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections, and provide psychological comfort to patients by allowing them to be with their families. Hira General Hospital conducts daily home visits throughout the year, encompassing preventative, educational, and social aspects, in addition to providing ambulance transport services, which have benefited 46 patients, and postpartum maternal and child care services through 36 visits.
