Jazan: Violators of maritime fishing regulations apprehended in Bish, and the Border Guard issues a warning

As part of the ongoing efforts by security authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect national assets and preserve the marine environment, the coastal patrols of the Border Guard in the Jazan region were able to detect and apprehend violations related to maritime security and safety regulations.

Details of apprehending violators in Bish Governorate

The Border Guard Command announced that its patrols operating in the Bish Governorate sector of the Jazan region successfully apprehended two Bangladeshi residents. The arrests were made due to their blatant violation of the safety and security regulations for those engaged in maritime activities within the Kingdom's territorial waters.

Initial investigations revealed that the two individuals were fishing without the necessary permits, and were found in possession of quantities of fish caught illegally. The relevant authorities have initiated all necessary legal procedures against them and referred them to the appropriate bodies for further investigation and the application of the prescribed penalties.

The importance of adhering to fishing permits and maritime security

This process comes within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to regulating maritime activities to ensure the sustainability of fish stocks and protect the natural environment from overexploitation. Official permits are a vital regulatory tool that ensures the identification of fishermen, the fishing methods used, and the permitted fishing areas, thus contributing to enhanced maritime security and preventing any violations that could harm the ecosystem or public safety.

The Kingdom places great importance on the fisheries sector as part of its Vision 2030, which aims to achieve food security and the sustainability of natural resources. Therefore, coastal patrols operate around the clock to monitor the coastlines and prevent any attempts to exploit these resources or violate applicable regulations.

Call to report environmental violations

In closing, the General Directorate of Border Guards urged all citizens and residents to fully comply with the regulations and instructions pertaining to fishing and marine recreation. It emphasized the importance of recognizing their social responsibility in preserving aquatic resources and wildlife.

The directorate also called on everyone to take the initiative to report any suspected cases or violations that constitute an attack on the environment or wildlife, through the official emergency communication channels, which are:

  • The number (911) is used in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
  • The numbers (999) , (996) and (994) are in the rest of the regions of the Kingdom.

Security authorities confirmed that all reports are handled with complete confidentiality, without any legal responsibility being imposed on the informant, in order to encourage fruitful cooperation between the community and security personnel to protect the nation's assets.
