Border Guards in Jazan rescue a citizen from drowning in Bish – Details

As part of ongoing efforts to save lives and respond to emergencies, search and rescue teams from the Border Guard in Bish Governorate, Jazan Region, rescued a Saudi citizen who was drowning while swimming. The field teams handled the report with high professionalism and exceptional speed, recovering the citizen and providing him with necessary first aid at the scene before immediately transferring him to the hospital for further examinations and specialized medical care. He is now in stable condition.

This successful operation highlights the pivotal and humanitarian role played by the Saudi Arabian Border Guard. In addition to their primary security duties of protecting the nation's land and sea borders, the General Directorate of Border Guards places great emphasis on search and rescue operations. Continuous maritime and coastal patrols are conducted, and specialized teams are equipped with the latest equipment and vehicles for rapid intervention in cases of drowning or maritime accidents, reflecting the high level of readiness of these forces to deal with various circumstances and hazards.

These efforts are particularly important in the Jazan region, which boasts a long and attractive coastline on the Red Sea, making it a favorite destination for hikers, swimmers, and water sports enthusiasts, especially in the Bish governorate. With the increasing number of tourists and residents visiting these beaches, the need for public awareness regarding the dangers and unpredictability of the sea is growing. While the presence of qualified rescue teams is a safety measure, it does not absolve citizens and residents of their individual responsibility to follow safety procedures.

In this context, the General Directorate of Border Guards reiterated its ongoing warnings to all beachgoers and visitors, urging them to exercise extreme caution. The Directorate emphasized the importance of swimming only in designated and permitted areas, which are typically supervised and meet safety standards, and avoiding swimming in prohibited or deep areas that may have strong currents posing a risk to life, even for experienced swimmers.

The relevant authorities also stressed the importance of strictly adhering to maritime safety guidelines and instructions, and of constantly supervising children while they are near the shore. To ensure a rapid response in emergencies, the Directorate reiterated the unified communication channels for requesting assistance, urging everyone to call 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, and Eastern regions, and 994 in the rest of the Kingdom, to guarantee the timely arrival of rescue teams and minimize loss of life.
