Steps to cancel a domestic worker absconding report via Absher 2024

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts towards digital transformation and streamlining government procedures for citizens and residents, the "Absher" electronic platform continues to offer innovative solutions for managing domestic workers. The service for reporting or canceling absconding workers is one of the most important services for a wide range of employers, ensuring the protection of rights and regulating the contractual relationship in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

How to cancel an absconding report via the "Tawasul" service

The General Directorate of Passports has enabled, through the "Absher" platform, the option to withdraw a report of domestic worker absence from work, in order to rectify the situation if the worker returns or the reason for the report ceases to exist. This process is entirely electronic and does not require visiting passport offices, and can be completed through the following steps:

  • Log in to the Absher using your digital ID.
  • Go to the My Services and then select Services .
  • Select the passport .
  • Click on the contact .
  • Select a new request .
  • Identify the relevant department, which is the reports department , and then submit a request to cancel the absence report.

It should be noted that an absconding report is submitted primarily when a worker is absent from work without a legitimate reason, and it is required that the worker’s residency permit be valid, and that the report is submitted only once for each sponsored person.

Legal regulations and protection of rights

These technical services coincide with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's to regulate the domestic labor market. The Ministry has emphasized the importance of adhering to the regulations and laws governing the relationship between employers and employees. A comprehensive guide has been issued outlining the rights and obligations of all parties, aiming to create a healthy work environment based on fairness and human dignity, thereby contributing to reducing labor disputes and enhancing the stability of Saudi families.

Approved professions for domestic workers in the system

The system encompasses a wide range of professions categorized under the umbrella of domestic work, designed to meet the diverse needs of families. The list includes the following professions:

  • Main occupations: domestic worker, private driver, nanny.
  • Specialized professions: home nurse, cook, tailor, waiter, attendant, house manager.
  • Supporting professions: house guard, personal assistant, home farmer, physiotherapist, and home coffee server.

Providing these electronic channels for managing the affairs of these professions reflects the keenness of the concerned authorities to save time and effort, and to ensure the accuracy of the data recorded in government systems.
