Record growth: 124 million delivery orders in Saudi Arabia in Q4 2025

The logistics sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed remarkable development and exceptional performance, as the delivery activity recorded a qualitative leap during the fourth quarter of 2025. According to official data, the total number of orders reached more than 124 million transactions in various regions of the Kingdom, thus achieving a significant increase of 60 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reflecting the active economic movement and the rapid digital transformation that the country is witnessing.

Growth indicators and the significance of the figures

The Public Transport Authority revealed in its statistical bulletin that this surge in growth is a culmination of efforts to develop the infrastructure for logistics services and support innovation in supply chains. This remarkable increase is attributed to several key factors, most notably the significant expansion in the use of smart technological solutions and the growing reliance of consumers on e-commerce platforms and delivery applications, which have become an integral part of daily life in Saudi society.

Geographical distribution of orders: Riyadh leads

Regarding the geographical distribution of transactions, statistics revealed a disparity in demand across regions. Riyadh accounted for the lion's share, representing 44.45% of total requests, reflecting the capital's high population density and commercial activity. Makkah came in second with 22.17%, followed by the Eastern Province with 15.90%, confirming the concentration of activity in areas with significant economic and population weight.

As for the remaining regions, varying percentages were recorded, reaching approximately 4.95% in Medina, 3.31% in Asir, and 2.62% in Qassim. The percentages continued in other regions such as Tabuk (1.81%), Hail (1.67%), and Jazan (1.13%), while the percentages in Najran, Al-Jawf, the Northern Borders, and Al-Baha ranged between 0.68% and 0.21%.

Economic context and Vision 2030

These figures cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader context of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a global logistics hub. The delivery sector is a vital component of the digital economy, directly supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), restaurants, and retail by expanding their customer reach. This sector also plays a crucial role in creating new job opportunities for Saudi youth, both through direct employment with companies and through freelance work with delivery apps.

Government regulation and oversight

This growth coincides with a package of regulatory measures implemented by relevant authorities to control the market, such as safety requirements, driver identification verification, electronic connectivity, and localization policies. These controls aim to improve operational efficiency, ensure the safety of consumers, and enhance reliability in this vital sector, which has become the backbone of modern commerce in the Kingdom.
