Signs of growth and alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
These figures cannot be interpreted in isolation from the overall context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , as this significant increase in the use of smart transportation applications is attributed to several key factors, most notably:
- Digital infrastructure: The Kingdom has one of the strongest communications infrastructures in the region, with widespread deployment of 5G networks and smartphone use, which has made it easier for beneficiaries to access these services.
- Quality of life: These apps contribute to improving the quality of life by providing safe and reliable transportation options, reducing overall dependence on private cars and alleviating traffic congestion in major cities.
- Supporting religious tourism: The solutions for Makkah and Madinah show the vital role that these applications play in serving the guests of God, the pilgrims and Umrah performers, and facilitating their movement between the holy sites and accommodation facilities.
Organization and control to ensure quality
The Public Transport Authority affirmed its continued commitment to its regulatory and oversight role to ensure operational efficiency. This includes verifying that operating companies comply with regulations, provide modern, compliant vehicles, and ensure driver qualifications. This growth is expected to boost employment opportunities in the sector, particularly with Saudization programs that have facilitated the involvement of young Saudis in ride-sharing services, thus supporting the local economy and increasing individual income levels.
