The Red Crescent in Qassim raises its readiness level for the rainy weather

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority branch in the Qassim region announced that it has raised its field and operational readiness to the highest level in response to reports and warnings issued by the National Center for Meteorology, which indicated expectations of moderate to heavy rainfall in several governorates of the region. This swift action is part of the Authority's proactive strategy to deal with various emergencies that may arise from the current weather fluctuations.
Mobilizing personnel and activating emergency plans
In detailing the preparations, the Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority branch in the Qassim region, Khalid bin Saleh Al-Khadher, explained that the Authority has activated its approved emergency plans to ensure an immediate response to any reports received during the rainy period. Al-Khadher confirmed that all ambulance centers in the region have been reinforced with the necessary personnel and equipment, and that the command, control, and medical evacuation center has been upgraded to operate around the clock, monitoring the situation and directing field teams with high precision.
Technology in the service of emergency medical services
The authority's operational plan relies on the latest technologies to ensure rapid response times to the injured. Ambulance teams are dispatched according to the highest international standards to minimize response time, a crucial factor in saving lives, especially in challenging weather conditions that may cause road closures or congestion. Operations rooms work in direct coordination with relevant agencies, such as Civil Defense and Traffic Police, to ensure seamless integration of field efforts.
Safety guidelines and community awareness
In a related context, the authority emphasized the importance of public awareness during this period, urging all citizens and residents to exercise caution. The warnings included the importance of staying away from floodplains and valleys, avoiding low-lying areas and water accumulations, and driving with extreme caution on highways and local roads to avoid skidding accidents, which are more common with the onset of rainfall.
Emergency communication channels
The Red Crescent Authority reiterated the available communication channels for requesting ambulance services when needed, emphasizing that the unified emergency number (997) receives reports around the clock. It also urged the public to utilize the “Is’afni” (Rescue Me) application available on smartphones, which features highly accurate location tracking, facilitating the rapid arrival of ambulance teams to those in need and supporting the Authority’s efforts to provide efficient and effective emergency medical care.
