Citizen Account deposits 3 billion riyals for the January payment... Details and figures

The Citizen Account Program in Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday the deposit of 3 billion riyals in support payments for January to eligible beneficiaries whose applications were complete, as part of the program's 98th payment cycle. This deposit reflects the program's ongoing commitment to supporting Saudi families and easing their financial burdens.

Details of the 98th payment from the Citizen's Account

The Director General of Communications for the Citizen Account Program, Abdullah Al-Hajri, explained that the number of beneficiaries meeting the eligibility criteria in this payment cycle exceeded 9.8 million beneficiaries and dependents. He noted that 72% of eligible beneficiaries received support in this payment cycle, with the average support per family reaching 1,474 riyals. This reflects the program's commitment to directing support to the most deserving groups based on income criteria and family size.

Total historical support for the program

Since its inception, the program has disbursed over SAR 265 billion to beneficiaries, including SAR 2.8 billion in compensation for previous payments. These substantial figures reflect the scale of the social safety net the Kingdom provides to its citizens and underscore the program's continued success in fulfilling its pivotal role in the national economy.

Program context and strategic objectives

Launched in December 2017, the Citizen Account Program is a cornerstone of the Kingdom's economic transformation under Vision 2030. The program was designed to protect Saudi families from the direct and indirect impacts of various economic reforms, which could place an additional burden on certain segments of society. The program's primary objectives are:

  • To mitigate the impact of economic reforms resulting from various initiatives.
  • Improving the efficiency of government support by directing it to the groups that actually deserve it.
  • Encouraging the rationalization of energy and water consumption.

Distribution of beneficiaries in the January payment

In detailing the figures for the current payment cycle, Al-Hajri explained that the number of heads of households benefiting exceeded 2 million, representing 87% of the total primary beneficiaries, while the number of dependents reached more than 7.4 million. The program periodically reviews beneficiary data to ensure its consistency with relevant authorities, guaranteeing that support reaches those who are truly eligible.

The program continues to receive objection requests from beneficiaries who were not included in the payment or who have comments on the value of the support, through the program’s electronic portal, thus ensuring transparency and fairness in the distribution of financial allocations.
