Civil Defense intensifies its efforts to ensure the safety of pilgrims during Ramadan 1447 AH

The General Directorate of Civil Defense has intensified its field and preventative efforts at the Two Holy Mosques as part of a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at providing the highest levels of protection and safety for pilgrims and worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH. These intensified efforts are intended to ensure the smooth performance of rituals in a safe and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

A preventive strategy for the safety of pilgrims

Civil Defense forces have reinforced their presence at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and its surrounding courtyards, where field teams are providing humanitarian and guidance services to visitors, in addition to being fully prepared to respond to any emergencies. The plan includes deploying preventative oversight points to ensure that corridors and pathways are clear of any obstacles that could impede crowd movement, reflecting the Kingdom's accumulated experience in managing millions of people efficiently and effectively.

Intensive efforts at the Prophet's Mosque

In Medina, the Directorate continued its preventative inspections of the Prophet's Mosque and the surrounding central area. These inspections included accommodations and hotels to ensure compliance with all safety requirements and the efficient operation of fire protection systems. These measures are an integral part of the security and safety system that the Kingdom's government prioritizes to serve visitors to the two holy cities.

Modern technologies and rapid response

The directorate confirmed the continued operation of support and assistance centers and rapid intervention units, relying on motorcycles in crowded areas to achieve optimal response times in emergencies. Awareness campaigns were also intensified through the broadcasting of informational messages via digital screens and various other means in high-traffic locations to raise awareness of preventative measures among visitors.

Importance and general context

These efforts are particularly important given the increasing number of Umrah pilgrims annually, in line with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to facilitate the hosting of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques and provide them with the best possible services. The Saudi Civil Defense system is among the most advanced in the region, utilizing all available human and logistical resources to ensure the safety of lives and property, thus enhancing the sense of security for Muslims coming from all corners of the earth.
