Five gas stations in Saudi Arabia were shut down for violating regulations and refusing to sell fuel

As part of ongoing efforts to regulate the energy and logistics sector, field inspection teams, under the direct supervision of the Permanent Executive Committee for Service Centers and Fuel Stations, continued their intensive inspection tours to ensure establishments' compliance with applicable standards and regulations. These campaigns, conducted in coordination with relevant authorities, resulted in the closure of five fuel stations located within the Eastern Province Municipality, the Asir Region Municipality, and the Al-Ahsa Governorate Municipality.

Reasons for closure and observed violations

The closure decisions came as a result of monitoring a number of serious violations that affect the quality of service provided to beneficiaries. The most prominent of these was the failure of these stations to comply with the approved technical and operational requirements, in addition to monitoring the violation of “refusal to sell petroleum products,” which is a violation that warrants punishment due to its direct impact on supply chains and the daily needs of consumers.

Context of developing the fuel station sector in the Kingdom

These stringent measures are part of a broader effort in Saudi Arabia to develop the service center and fuel station sector, a key area of focus within programs aimed at improving the urban landscape and quality of life. The Permanent Executive Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and the Ministry of Energy, seeks to enhance the efficiency of existing stations on regional roads and within cities, ensuring the provision of services befitting the Kingdom's stature and keeping pace with the significant advancements in infrastructure.

The importance of oversight and its impact on the consumer

These monitoring campaigns are of paramount importance at both the local and national levels. They not only aim to detect violations but also, and more importantly, to protect consumer rights and ensure access to clean fuel and safe services. Furthermore, addressing practices such as "refusal to sell" contributes to market stability and prevents monopolies or price manipulation, thereby enhancing the confidence of citizens and residents in the services provided.

Continuation of patrols and reporting mechanism

The relevant authorities confirmed that inspection teams will continue their rounds throughout the year and will not hesitate to enforce regulations against violators, with the aim of improving the sector and raising the quality of services. The committee calls on all beneficiaries to cooperate by reporting any observations or violations they notice at gas stations and service centers by contacting the unified number ( 8001244777 ) or through the "Partner Service" application available on smartphone app stores, to ensure a comprehensive and safe service environment for everyone.
