The King Salman Award for Memorizing the Holy Quran concludes its 27th session

Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, the capital city of Riyadh will host the closing ceremony next Friday, the second of Ramadan, to honor the winners of the 27th King Salman bin Abdulaziz Competition for Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran for Boys. His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, will attend the ceremony on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to present awards to the distinguished memorizers of the Holy Quran.

Honoring the winners and valuable prizes

In a related context, the closing ceremony honoring the winners of the same competition will be held under the patronage of the wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Her Royal Highness Princess Fahda bint Falah Al Hithlain. The competition has allocated substantial cash prizes to incentivize the participants, with the total prize money for the winners in the girls' section exceeding seven million riyals. This reflects the significant attention and support that the leadership provides to Saudi women and their empowerment in various fields, including religious and Quranic studies.

Competition categories and criteria

The competition, organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance over the past few days, witnessed a strong and honorable contest across its six categories, which were designed to encompass various levels of memorization and proficiency. These categories include:

  • Memorizing the entire Holy Quran with good performance and recitation according to the seven canonical readings (narration and knowledge).
  • Memorizing the entire Quran with its interpretation.
  • Memorizing the entire Quran with good performance and proper recitation.
  • Memorizing twenty parts.
  • Memorize ten parts.
  • Memorize five parts.

During the two ceremonies, the winners of the top three places in each of these branches will be crowned, after they have successfully passed the final qualifiers.

This award is an extension of the long-standing approach adopted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since its founding by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman – may God have mercy on him – in caring for the Holy Quran through printing, publishing, and teaching. The King Salman Local Competition is a cornerstone of this noble endeavor, aiming to connect children and youth with the Holy Quran, instill in them the values ​​of moderation and balance, and protect them from extremist ideologies through a correct understanding of the teachings of Islam.

For his part, His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, affirmed that the competition enjoys generous support and continuous patronage from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and diligent follow-up from His Royal Highness the Crown Prince – may God protect them both. His Excellency pointed out that this increasing support has transformed the competition into a leading national Islamic project and a major competitive platform that memorizers of the Holy Quran aspire to throughout the Kingdom. He prayed that God would perpetuate the Kingdom's glory and prosperity and reward the wise leadership abundantly for their service to Islam and Muslims.
