The Council of Economic Affairs discusses economic indicators and Vision 2030

The Council of Economic and Development Affairs held an important meeting via video conference, during which it discussed a number of economic and development reports, reviewing the latest developments in the global economy and their effects, in addition to national performance indicators that reflect the strength of the Saudi economy and its ability to face global challenges.

The resilience of the national economy in the face of global changes

The Council began its meeting by reviewing the monthly report submitted by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which highlighted the performance of the global economy and its future prospects. The report also emphasized the positive indicators of the national economy, with data showing a significant acceleration in GDP growth, driven by strong activity in the non-oil private sector. These results are a culmination of the Kingdom's economic diversification policies aimed at reducing reliance on oil as the primary source of income. This has boosted industrial production levels and maintained a stable inflation rate at a safe level of 2.2%, reflecting the success of fiscal and monetary policies in curbing global inflation.

Tangible progress in the Kingdom's Vision 2030 programs

As part of its ongoing monitoring of strategic plans, the Council reviewed the quarterly report submitted by the Strategic Management Office, which covered the performance of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 programs during the third quarter of this year. The report indicated continued progress across the Vision's three pillars: "A Vibrant Society, A Prosperous Economy, and An Ambitious Nation." This progress is a vital indicator of a smooth transition to the third phase of the Vision, which focuses primarily on sustaining the impact and maximizing the gains achieved in previous phases to ensure continued growth and prosperity for future generations.

Enhancing the performance of public institutions and the non-profit sector

The Council also discussed the National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Entities (Adaa) report for the third quarter of 2025, which showed positive developments in the efficiency of government agencies and an increase in beneficiary satisfaction rates with the services provided. In parallel, the Council paid special attention to the non-profit sector, reviewing the draft national strategy for this vital sector. The new strategy aims to transform the non-profit sector into a key partner in development by increasing its contribution to the GDP and creating more job opportunities, thereby strengthening its social and economic role and achieving social solidarity within an effective governance framework.

Regulatory and legislative decisions

The council concluded its meeting by reviewing several important procedural matters, including discussions on vital systems such as the public education system and the consumer protection system, as well as the organization of the National Falconry Center. The council also addressed regulatory and oversight reports concerning the food delivery platform market and education for people with disabilities, and adopted the necessary recommendations to ensure improved quality of life and the protection of beneficiaries' rights.
