Al Wahda's winter transfer window: 3 new players signed, 8 released by coach's order

In its ongoing efforts to bolster its first football team and get back on track this season, Al-Wahda FC has reached a final agreement with three new players to join during the current winter transfer window. These moves are part of a comprehensive team restructuring plan, with agreements reached with veteran Algerian defender Farouk Chafai, as well as local duo Ammar Al-Najjar and Hani Al-Subiani, marking the first signings for the "Knights of Mecca" in the winter transfer market.
The club's management is awaiting the necessary funds, in the form of anticipated financial support, to officially announce the signings and finalize the registration procedures. This is to ensure compliance with financial obligations and the financial efficiency requirements imposed by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for registering new players. The remaining deals are expected to be revealed gradually as all financial and contractual details are finalized, as the management aims to address the weaknesses that emerged in the team's performance during the first half of the season.
In a related development, and in parallel with the player recruitment process, Al Wahda is undergoing a major technical overhaul led by the coaching staff under Bosnian coach Rusmir. The coach is currently finalizing his comprehensive technical report, which includes a detailed evaluation of all players' performances. Based on this report, the technical staff has decided to release eight players at once, a bold move aimed at rejuvenating the team and reducing the squad size.
Sources indicate that the list of departing players will include 6 local players and 2 foreign players, as the club's management is currently working on a legal formula to settle their financial dues and terminate their contracts by mutual consent or through a financial settlement system, in order to make room for the registration of new names in the official lists.
These moves are of paramount importance to Al-Wahda, as the winter transfer window presents a golden opportunity for Saudi clubs to reorganize before the crucial second half of the season. By acquiring experienced players like Farouk Shafi, who boasts extensive experience in Saudi football, Al-Wahda aims to bolster its defense. Meanwhile, the signings of Al-Najjar and Al-Subiani are intended to provide the coach with diverse tactical options and depth on the bench, helping the team to perform differently and improve its position in the Saudi Professional League standings.
