Ronaldo sells his dream mansion in Portugal for 35 million euros

In a surprising turn of events that has captured the attention of global media and football fans, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi club Al-Nassr, and his partner Georgina Rodriguez have decided to put their luxurious mansion in the coastal region of Cascais, Portugal, up for sale. This decision comes after years of planning and construction, envisioning the property as their "retirement home" and future family residence. However, things haven't gone according to plan, and the mansion is now on the market for approximately €35 million.
An unfulfilled dream in the Portuguese Riviera
The story of this mansion began in 2020 when Cristiano Ronaldo, nicknamed "The Madeira Rocket," acquired a vast 12,000-square-meter plot of land in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, an area known as the "Portuguese Riviera" for its luxury and stunning natural beauty. The plan was to build a legendary palace for his family to move to after Ronaldo's retirement from football. According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the project faced numerous construction and legal challenges, including changes to the engineering team and design modifications to suit the global star's tastes, which significantly increased the investment cost, far exceeding initial projections.
Privacy crisis ends project
Despite the villa's completion and state-of-the-art amenities, the primary reason behind the shocking decision to sell was the lack of privacy. Ronaldo and Georgina discovered that the area surrounding the property no longer offered the seclusion expected of a star of Ronaldo's stature. Urban sprawl and neighboring houses directly overlooking the villa's gardens and grounds made it impossible for the family to enjoy their private life away from prying eyes.
Portuguese press reports indicated that Ronaldo tried to resolve this dilemma by offering to buy the land and neighboring houses to secure a buffer zone, but the owners of those properties refused to sell, leaving the Portuguese star with only one option: to give up the property.
Premium specifications and an incredible price
The asking price (€35 million) reflects the sheer luxury of the mansion, designed as an architectural masterpiece. The property boasts two 37-square-meter swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, a state-of-the-art private cinema, and a fully equipped gym that allows Ronaldo to maintain his fitness.
Because Ronaldo is known for his passion for luxury cars, a huge garage with space for around 20 vehicles was designed to house his rare collection. The mansion also boasts the unique feature of direct access to a private artificial beach, adding to its absolute exclusivity.
Ronaldo's real estate investment context
This property is not the only one in Ronaldo's real estate portfolio. The Portuguese star is known for his shrewd investments in the hotel and real estate sectors worldwide. Ronaldo owns luxury properties in Madrid, Spain; his hometown of Madeira; and Turin, Italy, in addition to hotel projects under the "Pestana CR7" brand. The decision to sell the Cascais mansion confirms that Ronaldo prioritizes his family's comfort and privacy above any financial or investment considerations, even if it means abandoning a project he has dreamed of for years.
