Crown Prince congratulates Tariq Rahman on the formation of the new Bangladeshi government

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a cable of congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Tariq Rahman, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on the occasion of the formation of the new government under his leadership and his swearing-in as Prime Minister.
In his message, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince expressed his sincerest congratulations and best wishes for success to His Excellency in his new duties, and for further progress, prosperity, and advancement to the brotherly people of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. This message of congratulations underscores the deep fraternal ties that bind the leadership and people of the two brotherly nations.
Deep-rooted historical ties
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of Bangladesh share deep-rooted historical ties spanning decades, based primarily on shared Islamic faith and culture, as well as common perspectives on numerous regional and international issues. The Kingdom was among the first countries to support Bangladesh's stability and development, making the relationship between Riyadh and Dhaka a model of Islamic solidarity and cooperation within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Strategic and economic partnership
Economically, Bangladesh is a key partner for the Kingdom in South Asia. The Bangladeshi community in Saudi Arabia, one of the largest expatriate communities, plays a vital role in the Kingdom's urban and economic development, while their remittances are a major source of revenue for the Bangladeshi economy. Under the Kingdom's Vision 2030, both countries aim to broaden cooperation to include the energy, investment, and infrastructure sectors, and to increase trade volume to serve their mutual interests.
The importance and impact of the event
The formation of the new government in Bangladesh, headed by Tarique Rahman, is of paramount importance in bolstering political stability in the region. Diplomatic circles view this step as the beginning of a new phase of government action aimed at addressing economic and developmental challenges. The Crown Prince's congratulatory message is a clear affirmation of support for Bangladesh's stability, underscoring the Kingdom's unwavering solidarity with its brothers and its commitment to supporting all efforts that contribute to the well-being of the Bangladeshi people.
The coming period is expected to witness an intensification of mutual visits and joint committees to enhance political and security coordination, especially in the areas of combating terrorism and humanitarian work, as the world appreciates the role that Bangladesh plays in hosting Rohingya refugees with continuous support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
