The Crown Prince and the British Prime Minister discuss strengthening cooperation and partnership

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received a telephone call today from the British Prime Minister, Mr. Keir Starmer. This call comes within the framework of ongoing communication between the leaderships of the two friendly countries to strengthen ties of cooperation.
During the call, the two sides reviewed the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom and discussed opportunities for their development in various fields. They also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation to serve the interests of both friendly nations, in addition to exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The depth of historical relations and strategic partnership
The talks between His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the British Prime Minister are based on a long legacy of historical relations spanning more than a century, with the United Kingdom being a key strategic partner of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The two countries work closely through the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council, which aims to institutionalize and expand cooperation to encompass multiple vital sectors, going beyond the traditional frameworks of diplomatic relations.
Economic cooperation and Vision 2030
This communication is particularly important given the massive economic development underway in the Kingdom as part of its Vision 2030. Britain views the Kingdom as a pivotal economic partner in the region, with growing opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, technology, financial services, and infrastructure. Through these contacts, both sides aim to remove obstacles to mutual investment and open new avenues for the private sector in both countries to contribute to the Kingdom's mega-projects.
Coordinating positions on international issues
On the political front, the call reflects the two leaderships' keenness to coordinate their positions on current global challenges. Both Riyadh and London play pivotal roles in maintaining international peace and security. Given their political weight and direct influence on international decision-making, issues such as the stability of the Middle East, the security of waterways, and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions are expected to remain high on the agenda of cooperation between the two countries.
This telephone call with the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, confirms the continuity of the strong relations between the two countries regardless of governmental changes, and the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, to extend bridges of effective communication with major global powers to enhance the Kingdom’s international standing.
