His Royal Highness the Crown Prince arrived at Quba Mosque, the first mosque established in Islam, where he was received by a number of officials and those in charge of the mosque's affairs. This visit is part of His Royal Highness's ongoing visits to Medina to assess its needs and follow up on development projects that serve visitors to the Prophet's Mosque and other historical mosques.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was accompanied during this visit by a high-level delegation, which included His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Madinah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nahar bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Madinah Region, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, in addition to a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers.

The historical and religious significance of Quba Mosque

The Quba Mosque holds exceptional importance in Islamic history, as it was the first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) immediately upon his arrival in Medina after migrating from Mecca. Numerous hadiths (sayings of the Prophet) speak of its virtues, including his statement: "Whoever purifies himself in his house and then goes to the Quba Mosque and prays there will have the reward of performing Umrah." For this reason, visitors to Medina, including pilgrims, Umrah performers, and local residents, are keen to visit this prominent Islamic landmark and pray there, following the Prophet's example.

King Salman Project for the Expansion of Quba Mosque

The Crown Prince's visit is linked to the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to care for mosques. It is worth noting that His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman previously announced the launch of the "King Salman Project for the Expansion of Quba Mosque," which is the largest expansion in the mosque's history. This massive project aims to develop the area surrounding the mosque and increase its total area to accommodate 66,000 worshippers, with an area of up to 50,000 square meters – ten times its current size.

Enhancing the visitor experience and achieving Vision 2030

These visits and development projects are central to the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically the Guests of God Service Program, which aims to facilitate the hosting of more Umrah and Hajj pilgrims and enrich their religious and cultural experience. The attention given to the Quba Mosque and its development extends beyond its architectural aspects; it also encompasses improving the urban landscape of Medina and facilitating visitor access to historical landmarks, thus reinforcing the Kingdom's position as the heart of the Islamic world and the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
