Despite the Eid al-Fitr truce, Afghanistan accuses Pakistan of a bombing that killed a civilian

Reported Afghan government On Sunday, a civilian was killed in the east of the country by a shell allegedly fired by Pakistani forces, despite the ceasefire in place between the two countries for the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
Assistant Spokesperson Taliban government Hamdallah Iftart via X platform: “Today, Sunday (…) the Pakistani military regime fired a mortar shell at the Shanbat area in the Nari district of Kunar province, injuring a woman and killing a civilian.”.
He did not provide further details about the deceased. However, a local medical source confirmed to AFP that a civilian had been killed.

Pakistan-Afghanistan truce

On Wednesday, Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have been locked in conflict for months, announced a ceasefire until Monday evening local time to mark Eid al-Fitr.
This came two days after a Pakistani airstrike killed hundreds at a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, and following clashes on February 26 in border areas involving mortar fire and drone flights.
According to a UN tally released Tuesday, not including casualties from the attack on the health center, at least 76 Afghan civilians have been killed since February 26, while more than 115,000 people have been displaced within Afghanistan.
Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring fighters belonging to the Pakistani Taliban, which has claimed responsibility for deadly attacks on Pakistani soil. Afghanistan denies this.
