900 seedlings distributed in Al Qunfudhah, Khulais and Al Kamil in celebration of the founding day

In a distinguished national and environmental initiative, the offices of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the governorates of Al-Qunfudhah, Khulais and Al-Kamil celebrated the founding day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by organizing a package of environmental events and initiatives that combined celebrating the historical legacy and promoting environmental sustainability.
The events included the distribution of over 900 diverse seedlings to citizens, visitors, and attendees of community events through dedicated information booths and active participation in Ramadan tents and community associations. This initiative aims to connect national occasions with environmental values and to solidify a culture of tree planting as an integral part of national identity and quality of life.
Founding Day: A Deep Historical Tradition and Firm Roots
This celebration commemorates the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1139 AH (1727 CE), a cherished national occasion that evokes three centuries of heritage and glory. The celebration of this day is not limited to reviewing political and social history, but extends to encompassing the connection to the land and its resources, as agriculture has been, and remains, an integral part of life in the Arabian Peninsula and a fundamental factor in the stability and prosperity of societies throughout history.
Promoting environmental awareness and the goals of Vision 2030
The ministry's offices emphasized that these initiatives are not merely symbolic celebrations, but rather a strategic extension of the ministry's community role in raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and the preservation of natural resources. The distribution of seedlings directly supports the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative , stemming from the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to increase vegetation cover, combat desertification, and reduce carbon emissions, ultimately leading to a sustainable environment for future generations.
Community partnership for a sustainable environment
The events aimed to engage all segments of society as active partners in development, recognizing that planting each sapling contributes to improving the urban landscape and purifying the air. The initiative was well-received by residents and visitors alike, who expressed their pride in their nation's history and their commitment to contributing to its development and preserving its environment, reflecting a national unity that combines pride in the past with working towards the future.
